It’s never too early to start planning your Christmas dinner, and since we’re still in the spirit of Thanksgiving, this is a perfect time. These 10 Christmas Casserole recipes are savory, delicious, and an excellent addition to your menu.

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays; the music, food, decorations, and smell are incredible. All my family and friends always look forward to what I cook every year. Fortunately, they’re always satisfied! Whether you’re planning a huge dinner or a simple brunch, Christmas casseroles are the best way to leave everyone full and happy.

Here you’ll find classic festive dishes like sweet potato casseroles and something sweet and tart like an apple-cranberry stuffing. Rest assured, every dish on my list is incredibly delicious. So dig in!

1. Christmas Breakfast Casserole

There’s no better start to Christmas mornings than this delicious buttery breakfast casserole. You get a nice balance of flavor with buttery croissants, smokey ham, and cheese.

Inspired by Croque Monsieur, a french classic, it’s a leisurely breakfast that features irresistible savory and creamy flavors. A slightly smoky ham gives the dish an excellent depth of flavor. Also, letting the bread soak up the mixture before baking it in the oven is essential.

You can make this casserole overnight. Then, serve this yummy casserole with powdered sugar and jam for the ultimate flavor.

2. Sweet Potato Casserole

It would only be complete if there was a sweet potato casserole on the list. However, you can never go wrong with one- they are quick to make and lovely, and this recipe has a beautiful praline pecan topping.

This dish is one of my favorites because it is delicious and excellent for picky eaters. To get the best of this dish, you need to get the appropriate consistency. It can’t be watery or soggy but melt-in-your-mouth smooth. Add vanilla, sugar, butter, and eggs to mashed sweet potatoes, add the topping, then bake.

Depending on your preference, you can also melt some marshmallows over the dish. It’s so tasty, and your kids will love it!

3. Chicken Broccoli Noodle Casserole

This dish is a hit between spicy chicken, savory broth, and creamy cheese! Chicken broccoli rice casserole is a rich, spice-filled meal that has my heart. Considering how loaded it is, it could be the main meal.

It would be best if you had chicken breasts, low-sodium chicken broth, and some short-cut pasta for this dish. For veggies, you need broccoli, carrots, and yellow onion. Of course, you can skip seasonings such as garlic, thyme, cayenne pepper, and many others.

Mix in a big skillet, add cheese and finish the dish in the oven. Serve with fresh basil and some thyme.

4. Keto Turkey Leftover Casserole

I don’t know about you, but nothing goes to waste in my house, so this leftover turkey casserole is a lifesaver. It’s so easy to add some weight during the holiday season, so this keto-friendly recipe always comes in handy.

This low-carb casserole is creamy and delicious. Of course, it would help if you had some boneless turkey breast, different frozen veggies, a silky smooth keto sauce, and cheese to pull it off. The white sauce is made with keto-friendly ingredients such as heavy cream, cream cheese, parmesan, and flavorful spices. Heat it up on a slow cooker until it’s ready.

Assemble all the ingredients in a casserole dish, bake, and serve. Chicken also works for this tasty recipe!

5. Cauliflower Casserole

Tender cauliflower meets with creamy parmesan cheese for this irresistibly flavorful dish. It’s simple, quick, and very nutritious. Plus, it can qualify as a low-carb diet.

Flavored with garlic, salt, and black pepper, this wonderfully scrumptious dish is the easiest veggie casserole. Use the prepackaged cauliflower florets because they are the appropriate size for this dish. Mix with the cheese sauce and top with fontina cheese and panko breadcrumbs before baking.

The heat will make the dish bubbly with a golden brown topping. It’s appetizing and delicious!

6. Crispy Chicken Parmesan Casserole

Nothing beats the taste of this crispy chicken parmesan casserole. Savory, spicy, and utterly tasty, this is one of my favorite holiday casseroles.

For this flavorful dish, you can use homemade breaded chicken, leftover rotisserie chicken, or chicken tenders. Whatever you decide will taste amazing! The flavors of warm marinara sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese are complemented by the chewy textures of rigatoni.

This delicious dish can be made two days before Christmas. So, no matter how busy you may be, you can always have a Christmas casserole ready!

7. Green Bean Casserole

You’ll swoon over this dish if you love savory, creamy meals. Crispy fried shallots on a bed of creamy green beans sound fantastic! Wouldn’t you agree?

This green bean casserole is perfect for picky eaters (even those that don’t like vegetables). It’s made with an amazing mushroom cream sauce and expertly seasoned with garlic, thyme, salt, and chicken stock. The green beans add a beautiful crunch to the creamy sauce before the crispy fried shallots, panko breadcrumbs, and white cheddar cheese are layered.

Trust me when I say you can’t get tired of this meal. Even though it’s a side dish, you can make it the main- it’s that tasty and filling!

8. Butternut Squash Casserole

Who doesn’t love the creamy and naturally sweet taste of butternut squash? There’s not a person that will frown on their faces at the sight of this excellent dish. Made with freshly roasted butternut squash cubes, it’s incredibly flavorful and easy to make.

This dish also contains fresh honeycrisp apples and sweet Italian sausages, which gives it a nice sweet and savory flavor. But it doesn’t end there; you must add caramelized fennel and onions before topping it with melted gruyere cheese. In the end, you get a rich, smooth consistency with cubes of butternut squash that melt in your mouth.

The taste and colors are incredibly vibrant, and everyone will want a plate of this beautiful meal.

9. Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Casserole

Add a savory twist to your potato gratin by adding ham to the recipe. All your guests will be impressed with this flavorful combination. Chunks of spicy ham with thinly sliced potatoes in a cheesy cream sauce look and sounds absolutely divine.

Even though this is your standard recipe for potato gratin, it’s slightly different. For this dish, you need very thin slices of potatoes and two kinds of cheese; mozzarella and cheddar cheese for richness. Red, yellow, or russet potatoes are the best for this meal because they hold in the sauce perfectly.

A helpful tip is to boil or microwave your potatoes before slicing them; this step will prevent them from being too hard after it’s baked. Then, bring all the ingredients to a large baking dish and place them in the oven. Once it’s ready, serve it with herbs such as chives and parsley.

10. Apple-Cranberry Stuffing

The sweet-tart flavors of cranberries and apples are undeniably the best part of this casserole. But what sells it for me is the hint of cinnamon; it gives it depth and the right amount of fall flavor your soul needs.

It’s a fairly easy dish that always hits the right spot every Christmas. It would be best if you had honeycrisp apples because they don’t get overcooked quickly and little bits of cranberries to let the juice out. Alongside these fruits, you need chopped celery stalks, vegetable broth, onion, and a pack of cubed stuffing mix.

Unsalted butter adds the creaminess and black pepper gives it a little kick. Depending on your preference, you can either bake in the oven or use the slow cooker method. Either way, it will taste incredibly scrumptious!
