17 Heavenly Cream Pie Recipes

Ever wanted a pie that’s as soft as a cloud and melts in your mouth like heaven? You can have a slice of that or two through these cream pie recipes.

A cream pie, also known as creme pie, is a soft, delicious dessert filled with custard or pudding. It’s often topped with whipped cream and comes in various flavors, from chocolate to tropical fruits, like coconut.

Cream pie recipes may use a single pastry crust or graham cracker crust. Each cream pie recipe may vary in procedures, as you’ll see in the ones I share.

1. Sugar Cream Pie

The first among our list of cream pie recipes is this simple yet luxurious sugar cream pie. It’s wickedly sweet and creamy, just the perfect treat you need.

The ingredients and technique make the pie taste and feel like custard, even without the egg. It only uses sugar, cornstarch, milk, butter, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.

To make the filling, mix sugar, cornstarch, and milk. Once it has boiled, allow it to thicken and bubble before you remove it from heat and add vanilla and butter. After that, transfer to a pie crust, then bake.

2. Banana Cream Pie

This classic banana cream pie is so creamy and delicious, that you’ll go bananas over it. The perfect union of cream, chocolate, coconut, and banana flavors in a peanut butter cookie crust.

This banana cream pie is a layered dessert: crust, banana slices, cream filling, whipped cream, and toppings like chocolate curls and coconut flakes. You can improve it by slathering peanut butter over the crust before adding the bananas.

You’ll need whole milk, egg yolks, granulated sugar, cornstarch, salt, vanilla, salted butter, and ripe bananas for the filling. You can also add bourbon or scotch.

3. Banoffee Cream Pie

Banoffee cream pie is a marriage between a banoffee pie and a banana cream pie. Thus, you can taste toffee or dulce de leche, bananas, cream, and more.

You’ll need quite a lot to make this pie: condensed milk, whole milk, granulated sugar, eggs, corn starch, unsalted butter, vanilla, flour, salt, bananas, heavy whipping cream, and powdered sugar. Some optional components are banana extract and garnishes, like toffee or chocolate curls.

There are several components: dulce de leche, pastry cream, whipped cream topping, and pie crust. Use a blind bake pie crust or homemade graham cracker crust.

4. Banana Rum Cream Pie

Want a banana cream pie with a twist? Why not one with a kick? This banana rum cream pie recipe has the kick, cream, spice, and more.

This cream pie recipe offers several flavor dimensions – there’s cream, bananas, rum, cinnamon, and more. It uses a flavorful graham cracker pie crust made from graham crackers, butter, curry powder, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

Meanwhile, its rum-spiked creamy filling combines cream cheese, lemon zest, brown sugar, and whipped cream. To assemble the pie, lay bananas on the bottom, fill with cream, and top with whipped cream plus and toppings.

5. Coconut Cream Pie

Be ready for an addiction to this fantastic coconut cream pie from Sally’s Baking Addiction. From top to bottom, it’s loaded with fresh coconut flavors, transporting you to a tropical seaside.

There are three elements to this cream pie: pie crust, creamy coconut filling, and whipped cream. You can blind-bake the pie crust using pie weights.

Meanwhile, the coconut cream filling needs egg yolks, cornstarch, coconut milk, half-and-half, sugar, salt, shredded coconut, butter, vanilla, and coconut extract.

You can also make this coconut cream pie look gorgeous by making pretty whipped cream swirls and strewing toasted coconut flakes.

6. Coconut Rum Cream Pie

Elevate your classic coconut cream pie by giving it a twist and kick. This coconut rum cream pie took the personality of a Puerto Rican coquito and ran with it!

Although this cream pie’s flavor profile is complex, making it certainly isn’t. You’ll need a pre-baked crust, coconut rum custard pie filling, toasted coconut, and whipped cream.

Make the custard filling by simmering coconut milk, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Meanwhile, mix eggs, yolks, sugar, and cornstarch, then add to the milk mixture once the latter simmers. Finally, add butter, extracts, and toasted coconut flakes.

7. Lemon Cream Pie

My favorite flavor for pies is lemon. It’s bright and citrusy – a fresh treat, especially as I spend most of my time under the searing summer heat.

With that, this easy recipe for a lemon cream pie has quickly become my favorite recipe, and it may become yours too. It also uses a simple graham cracker crust made with crumbs, sugar, salt, and unsalted butter.

You’ll need condensed milk, sour cream, and lemon juice for the tangy filling. The author recommends fresh whipped cream for the top layer, but you can swap for Cool Whip, meringue, or canned whipped topping.

8. Key Lime Cream Pie

Like the lemon cream pie, this key lime cream pie has refreshing flavors perfect for the summer heat. It’s one of the best-known and well-loved cream pie flavors, so you wouldn’t want to miss it.

This cream pie stands out for using a pie crust made from pecan shortbread cookies and melted butter. Meanwhile, the cream filling needs whipping cream, confectioners’ sugar, coconut extract, cream cheese, condensed milk, key lime juice, and whipped cream.

You can play with the garnishes to highlight bright, tropical flavors. You can use toasted coconut, maraschino cherries, and fresh key lime wedges.

9. Chocolate Cream Pie

This chocolate pie is for the most avid chocolate lovers. Have a slice of your personal dessert heaven by making your own simple yet delectable chocolate cream pie.

Crust to toppings, the flavors in this chocolate pie complement each other very well. You have an Oreo crust, chocolate pudding filling, whipped topping, and crisp chocolate curls.

Besides some standard cream pie filling ingredients, you’ll need chopped semi-sweet chocolate bars for the chocolate pudding. The author used Ghirardelli, but you can use any good quality brand – just make sure it’s good because it serves as the base flavor.

10. Nutella Cream Pie

Nutella – rich, creamy, and full of chocolate flavor – is the guilty pleasure of many chocolate lovers. But let’s take that delight a step further by making the most luxurious and sweetest chocolate pie.

This Nutella cream pie has an Oreo crust, chocolate and cream cheese filling, whipped cream, and chocolate curls. From top to bottom, this cream pie consists of sweet treats like Oreos and Nutella hazelnut.

This recipe is better because it’s “no bake” – perfect if you don’t have an oven! But you’ll need a freezer to toughen the crust and Nutella cream filling.

11. Boston Cream Pie

Contrary to the name, Boston cream pie is a cream-filled cake and not a cream-filled pie. People named it so because it was first made using pie tins.

But I’m still including it in the list because it’s one of the most popular desserts. I mean vanilla pastry cream sandwiched between two sponge cakes PLUS a chocolate ganache topping? Count me in!

This pseudo-cream pie doesn’t need much to make – just flour, bittersweet chocolate, whole milk, baking powder, corn starch, salt, eggs, sugar, unsalted butter, whipping cream, and vanilla. Take out your pie tins and make a cake!

12. Vanilla Cream Pie

Sometimes, the most elegant pies are the simplest, like this cream pie from Preppy Kitchen. It ticks off all the qualities of a great pie – flaky, buttery crust, creamy, delicious filling, and a topping of heavenly soft whipped cream.

The vanilla-flavored pie filling comprises eggs, yolks, salt, corn starch, sugar, milk, butter, and the most essential of all – the vanilla bean. This bean provides rich yet subtle flavors with a very tempting aroma.

Besides the filling, you should also prepare the crust and whipped topping. Both have simple ingredients and procedures, so they won’t be challenging.

13. Peanut Butter Cream Pie

Can’t get enough peanut butter? I know how you feel, but it can be dull to keep licking peanut butter from a spoon or munching on a peanut butter-filled sandwich.

Here’s a simple, no-bake way to reimagine the peanut butter flavors so it melts in your mouth in the best way. The base is a graham cracker crust, which you can make using your favorite graham crackers and personal recipe.

As for the filling, mix together cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, whole milk, and frozen whipped topping. Garnish with crushed peanuts to round up the flavors.

14. Blackberry Cream Pie

This recipe entry features a cream pie with light purple shades and fresh blackberry flavors. Absolutely pretty and delicious to behold, it’s high time you make your own version.

But before making your best blackberry cream pie, know first what you’ll need. These are graham cracker crust, blackberry puree, and blackberry cream filling.

Although the recipe indicates baking the graham cracker crust, you can turn the whole recipe into a no-bake blackberry cream pie by chilling the crust instead. With enough time, the graham crust will still be as rigid as it should be when baked.

15. Strawberry Cream Pie

I’ve featured a handful of fruit-flavored pies, like lemon and coconut, and this strawberry one will be the last on this list. It’s as luxuriously delicious as the other cream pies, maybe even more for strawberry lovers.

With every bite, this cream pie literally oozes sweet strawberry flavors. There’s a layer of whole strawberries on top of the cream cheese filling and then drenched with homemade strawberry glaze.

This recipe presents two strawberry cream pie crust choices: graham crackers or pastry. If you opt for the former, you can do a no-bake strawberry cream pie.

16. Pecan Cream Pie

Have you dug into a pie that makes you go nuts? If you haven’t, a slice of this delicious pecan cream pie will give you a glimpse of what you’ve been missing.

To make the cream pie, you only need the pie crust, whipping cream, cream cheese, powdered sugar, maple syrup, chopped pecans, and brown sugar. If you want a no-bake option, just choose a no-bake graham cracker crust.

The cream contains chopped pecans, which exude great flavor and provide an awesome crunch. You can also top the pie with more chopped pecans as a garnish, along with whipped cream.

17. Cinnamon Cream Pie

The last cream pie on our list is, I’d dare say, the best one for autumn. This cinnamon cream pie with brown sugar whipped cream brings together an exquisite, fall-themed taste profile with a creamy twist of cinnamon and brown sugar flavors.

Ingredients are straightforward: pie crust, heavy cream, brown sugar, cream cheese, instant vanilla pudding, whole milk, and ground cinnamon. Choose from homemade or store-bought pie crust.

Bake the pie crust, whip the cream and cook the cream filling. Assemble by pouring cream into the crust, topping with whipped cream and cinnamon, then chill before serving.
