14 Delicious Dump Cake Recipes

Making a cake takes so much effort and time. Some recipes promise you an easy cake but list more than 12 steps.

You have to mix this, fold that, sift this, and a lot more complicated procedures. Who has the time, even?

But what if I tell you you can just dump stuff to make a cake? I’m not kidding because dump cakes exist.

Dump cakes are an American dessert. They’re also a blessing for us who want a sweet treat but are too busy.

I’ve compiled some of the best dump cake recipes for you. Try them out!

1. Cherry Dump Cake

One of the most popular variants of today’s dessert is cherry dump cake. The cherry flavor is the highlight, but there are hints of almond, too.

This dessert recipe requires only four ingredients. These are yellow cake mix, cherry pie filling, almond extract, and melted butter.

You’ll stir the almond extract into the filling before making the cake. Then, you dump the filling (with extract) into a baking dish. Then, sprinkle the cake mix and pour the butter.

If you want more texture, sprinkle some sliced almonds on the cake before baking. This gives it a nice crunch.

2. Peach Dump Cake

This one is also a classic dump cake recipe. Peach dump cake is reminiscent of our favorite cobbler pie.

It’s also an easy dessert. Prepare it with three ingredients and less than an hour of your time.

As a first step, preheat the oven to 350 F. Then, layer your sliced peaches, yellow cake mix, and butter.

You can use a crock pot or slow cooker if you don’t have an oven. Depending on the setting (low or high), it’ll take two to four hours.

Add oats to your cake mix before layering if you want some crispiness.

3. Chocolate Dump Cake

Imagine this: caramel drizzle and ice cream on top of the cake. It’s hot fudge on a plate.

Luckily, you don’t have to stop at imagination. You can make it yourself with this chocolate dump cake recipe.

You will need chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding mix, milk, and chocolate chips. The chips are optional, but they add a delicious, gooey feel to each bite.

The ingredients list will give you an idea of how decadent and rich this dessert will be. To cut through that, top the cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle.

4. Strawberry Dump Cake

Strawberry is a favorite fruit flavor by many. It’s refreshingly sweet, especially amidst the summer heat.

For all the strawberry lovers out there, I’ve included this recipe. It’s effortless and quick to make.

Like the peach dump cake, you can use a crock pot or oven to make this recipe. It’d take longer to cook in a slow cooker, though.

You need strawberry pie filling, fresh strawberries, white cake mix, and butter. Grease your container with cooking spray before you start “dumping” your ingredients.

Serve your strawberry dump cake with homemade whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

5. Apple Dump Cake

The writer calls this a “go-to dessert recipe,” and I can see why. It’s easy to make, needs a few ingredients, and doesn’t take a lot of time.

Also, it’s amazingly delicious and full of apple flavors. It’s like the autumn season but as a cake or something.

Anyways, so you’d have an idea of what I’m talking about, let me tell you what you need. You must have apple pie filling, apple spice, dry cake mix, pecans, and salted butter.

You can use French vanilla or yellow cake mix, whichever you have in your pantry. Convenient, right?

6. Pineapple Dump Cake

The apple dump cake embodies the autumn season. Meanwhile, this one is summer as a dessert.

Pineapple has bright and sweet flavors. These stand out amazingly against the buttery goodness of a dump cake.

You’ll use crushed pineapple, yellow cake mix, brown sugar, chopped pecans, and butter to make this dump cake. The brown sugar contributes a melted caramel flavor that blends well with the cake.

The pecans provide a crunch to the cake, thus giving another dimension to its textures. But, you can switch it with walnuts or your favorite nuts.

Serve with ice cream.

7. Blueberry Dump Cake

Every summer or spring, there are plenty of sweet and juicy blueberries. They’re suitable for several dessert recipes, like pie, but these take so much effort and time.

Here’s one that doesn’t – blueberry dump cake. The cake oozes with these fruits’ sweet goodness when you dig into it.

You can use any cake mix for this recipe – yellow, white, or even lemon. After all, the berries are the highlight of this dessert.

Because it’s the star of the show, you’ll need blueberry pie filling AND fresh blueberries. Avoid the frozen ones because they make the cake super soggy and unenjoyable.

8. Rhubarb Dump Cake

I find this dessert unique. There aren’t a lot of rhubarb-inspired desserts out there; thus, this one will tingle your curiosity.

Rhubarb has a tartness that comes out when cooked with sugar. Such tartness pairs well with the rich and sweet flavors of dump cake.

The ingredients are like the other dump cakes. You need the filling, which is fresh or frozen rhubarb.

You’ll also need yellow cake mix and butter. Unlike the other recipes, though, it needs water and white sugar.

Bake the cake until it’s bubbling and the top has browned. That’ll take only 45 minutes or so.

9. Pumpkin Dump Cake

This one might give the apple dump cake a run for its money. This pumpkin dessert is also filled with autumn flavors.

Served with whipped cream, this pumpkin dump cake stands out because of all its spices and flavors. It looks pretty, too.

You’ll notice that this recipe has more ingredients than the usual dump cake. It has evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, ground cinnamon, spice cake mix, and unsalted butter.

Instead of pie filling, you’ll use canned pumpkin puree. The writer says you can use pumpkin pie filling too, but many find it too sweet. But you can experiment!

10. Carrot Dump Cake

Most of our dump cake flavors here are fruit-themed. Cherry, peach, blueberry – most are sweet, juicy fruits.

But vegetables also make for great cakes. The rhubarb dump cake is technically one, but here’s another.

This carrot dump cake is a family recipe inspired by carrot cake. It’s deliciously moist and takes less than an hour to make.

The recipe calls for shredded carrots, crushed pineapple, chopped walnuts, unsalted butter, and spice cake mix.

The bottom filling is a mixture of carrots, pineapple, and walnuts. You’ll cover this with the spice cake mix and top with melted butter.

11. Blackberry Dump Cake

Yes, we’re collecting berry and fruit-flavored dump cakes like they’re infinity stones. This one seals the collection.

Like blueberries, blackberries are sweet summer fruits rich in Vitamin C and anthocyanins. Thus, you won’t just make a tasty dessert – a healthy one, too.

Start by collecting your ingredients. You’ll need fresh blackberries, lemon juice, brown sugar, yellow cake mix, and sliced butter.

Once you’ve got all those, start layering. Put the blackberries and lemon juice first, then brown sugar.

Cover it all with cake mix and the butter slices. Wait for 35 minutes, and tada! A blueberry dump cake.

12. Black Forest Dump Cake

We’re starting to steer to more complex dump cake flavors. To start, let’s have this black forest dump cake.

You’ll recognize black forest cakes for their decadent chocolate and cherry flavors. This taste profile is well-reflected in this recipe.

To make the black forest dump cake, prepare the cherry pie filling, pitted cherries, sliced almonds, chocolate cake mix, and butter.

The layering is as follows: pie filling, pitted cherries, cake mix, almonds, and then butter. Make sure the cherries are undrained.

Bake for up to 50 minutes, and then serve warm. You can top it with whipped cream.

13. Chocolate Peanut Butter Dump Cake

Does the title remind you of Reese’s peanut cups? If so, that’s good because this recipe is all about them.

This dump cake oozes decadent chocolate and rich peanut butter goodness. It’s topped and baked with delicious Reese’s cups.

Combine chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding, and milk to make the bottom layer. Fold some Reese’s mini cups into the mixture.

For the second layer, mix cream cheese, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and cream until thick. You’ll spread this over the chocolate layer.

Sprinkle cake mix and pour melted butter over the layers. Bake, cool, place toppings, and serve.

14. Banana Split Dump Cake

Banana split and dump cake?! Yes, this one’s a two-desserts-in-one combo.

This dessert is moist and has the right level of sweetness. It also captures the essence of a banana split: the banana, ice cream, and chocolate sauce flavors.

The bottom layer consists of a fruit mixture: strawberries, pineapple, and banana, plus some sugar.

The next layer is a cake mix. You’ll prepare the cake mix by bringing together banana cream pudding mix, skim milk, white cake mix, and milk chocolate chips.

Bake for up to an hour. Serve with whipped cream, sliced bananas, and other toppings.
