10 Delicious Gluten Free Thanksgiving Recipes

Holiday celebrations are not complete without a table overflowing with food. With that, it also means we pack more carbs than we should or encounter exquisite dishes we cannot eat because of dietary restrictions.

This Thanksgiving is the time to change the usual. Make your celebrations more inclusive and healthy by incorporating gluten free Thanksgiving recipes. Thus, even people who can’t tolerate gluten can enjoy the fantastic meals you put out.

Check out this post to help you craft the best gluten free Thanksgiving menu. Each simple and delicious recipe is a gluten free rendition of a Thanksgiving classic.

1. Gluten Free Thanksgiving Turkey

Roasted turkey is never absent from the Thanksgiving table. Traditional recipes ensure the turkey is juicy, moist, and flavorful. This gluten free recipe promises nothing less.

Turkey itself is naturally gluten free, especially if bought unstuffed and fresh. However, several recipes incorporate gluten, so we’re avoiding that for this post. Also, this delicious recipe is good for the whole bird or just the turkey breast.

You’ll need turkey, coconut oil, lemon, garlic cloves, rosemary, sage, parsley, dill, salt, black pepper, garlic salt, and onion salt. Don’t skip the coconut oil, as it keeps the bird extra juicy and moist.

2. Gluten Free Thanksgiving Sauce

You can’t have a gorgeous gluten free turkey without delicious and savory gluten free sauce. Thus, I’ve included an easy recipe for a gluten free gravy that’s perfect for your Thanksgiving meal.

Many sauces, like cranberry sauce, taste great with Thanksgiving dishes. But for this entry, we’re going with a classic. This turkey gravy goes excellent with turkey, mashed potatoes, bread, and more.

You’ll need butter, white rice flour, pan drippings, fresh herbs, low-sodium chicken stock, salt, and pepper. If you made the gluten free turkey, you could use the drippings from that to make this gravy.

3. Gluten Free Dinner Rolls

A holiday meal often features a basket of fresh dinner rolls. They may be simple and homey, but their subtle flavors help draw out the richness that is characteristic of many dishes in a Thanksgiving dinner.

Although making gluten free bread sounds impossible, this recipe shows that it is not just doable but also easy and delicious, like classic rolls. You’ll need gluten free flour, xanthan gum, instant yeast, sugar, salt, warm water, butter, egg, and cider vinegar.

Bake these rolls in a circular pan. You can eat them with other gluten free Thanksgiving recipes, like turkey or stew.

4. Gluten Free Green Bean Casserole

Another Thanksgiving favorite is the green bean casserole. Like other classic recipes, you can transform this classic into an easy gluten free recipe. Don’t worry – all the essential flavors and textures will remain.

Also, this recipe is entirely homemade, even the cream of mushroom soup. A dish like this that’s made with love and effort is sure to exude nothing less than an authentic and delicious flavor.

To make this green bean casserole, you’ll need gluten free versions of cream of mushroom soup, bread crumbs, and crispy fried onions. You’ll also need fresh green beans, unsalted butter, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.

5. Gluten Free Sweet Potato Casserole

The next on our creative gluten free recipes is this sweet potato casserole. This side dish features earthy and sweet flavors, contributing to a unique, homey taste profile.

There are two main elements: the sweet potato filling and the topping. To make the filling, you’ll need sweet potatoes, coconut milk, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and egg.

The pecan topping needs chopped pecans, gluten free baking flour, brown sugar, salt, vanilla, and softened butter. If you want this recipe egg-free, remove the egg from the filling. For dairy free, use coconut oil instead of butter.

6. Gluten Free Scalloped Potatoes

There’s no surplus of potato-based side dishes every Thanksgiving. But that does not mean a gluten free diet keeps you from enjoying them all. Many potato dishes are now gluten free, like this scalloped potatoes recipe.

It’s as creamy, silky, and delicious as the traditional scalloped potatoes. But how is it thick and creamy without the usual flour? The answer is the star itself: potatoes.

Instead of relying on flour, this recipe uses potatoes to thicken the sauce, leading to a more consistent and authentic dish. You’ll also need whole milk, heavy cream, garlic salt, thyme, pepper, and gruyere cheese.

7. Gluten Free Thanksgiving Brussel Sprouts

Besides green beans and potatoes, another popular Thanksgiving vegetable is brussels sprouts. They make a fine casserole dish by themselves. However, this recipe features a healthy medley of sprouts, figs, and grapes.

You’ll need olive oil, Brussels sprouts, red grapes, figs, thyme, salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, and candied pecans. Noticeably, every component provides unique flavors and textures. Thus, there are many dimensions to this dish.

For instance, you get the distinct flavors of the sprouts, punctuated by the freshness of grapes and the sweetness of the figs. The candied pecans provide a crunch while the vinegar balances everything.

8. Gluten Free Thanksgiving Stuffing

Traditionally, people stuffed their Thanksgiving turkey with an entire side dish. Although now you can usually prep and cook the stuffing outside of the bird, it still retained the name and the distinct, delicious flavors.

This gluten free stuffing is as flavorful as any other Thanksgiving stuffing. It combines ten amazing ingredients, each contributing a unique flavor and experience.

These ten ingredients are a bread loaf (or bread cubes), butter, yellow onion, celery, thyme, sage, rosemary, salt, pepper, and chicken broth. You can use dairy-free butter or vegetable broth to suit your dietary needs and preferences.

9. Gluten Free Pecan Pie

The holiday’s gluten free menu would not be complete without a selection of gluten free desserts. In this post, I’ve included two of the most popular Thanksgiving dessert pies, starting with pecan pie.

A perfect pecan pie blends many flavors: buttery, vanilla, maple, sweet, and pecan. This recipe provides the same experience; you can hardly tell it has a gluten free pie crust and filling.

The crust and filling call for a different set of ingredients because you’ll make both from scratch. Cut a slice and eat it as it is or serve it with gluten free ice cream.

10. Gluten Free Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is a Thanksgiving and autumn classic. This creamy and rich dish consists of a unique filling of pumpkin and spices sitting on top of a buttery, golden crust.

This pumpkin pie recipe also has a homemade crust and filling. Thus, from top to bottom, everything is gluten free, delicious, and authentic. For the crust, you’ll need butter, ice water, sour cream, white vinegar, gluten free baking flour, sugar, and salt.

You’ll need sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, salt, pumpkin, eggs, and evaporated milk for the pumpkin pie filling. Swap the evaporated milk for coconut milk if you want.
